A well-equiped hut with a loft. Adjacent to beautiful pools and not the slightest evidence of civilisation in sight. Drive Time: 60 mins from Cape Town Coordinates: 33°41'42.21"S 19° 6'49.90"E Location: 1:50 000 3319A Bain’s Kloof History: The Krom Rivier Hut was financed and built in the space of four months, on Forestry land, by the Paarl Wellington Section of the MCSA (then 50 members only) and was proudly opened on 23 May 1953. (See MCSA Journal 1953, page 129 and MCSA Journal 1995, page 144.) Access: The Hut is an hour’s walk from the top of Du Toit’s Kloof Pass, and is at an altitude of just under 1000m. The peaks in the immediate vicinity are Witteberg (1380m), Krom Rivier Dome (1384m), Krom Rivier Peak (1452m), and New Year Peak (1327m). The ascent of the Witteberg from the hut takes 3 to 4 hours.
